Today I went ziplining through a cloud forest!

Today we went zip-lining through the Monteverde Cloud Forest and visited an orchid garden! We started out our day easy at the house relaxing before heading out to Monteverde.

"Transcendental Equinox"

The road to Monteverde was a little bumpy. About 30 minutes into the journey our paved road turned into a dirt road. It was a little rocky, but we continued on into the countryside.

Just a calf hanging out on the side of the road
The countryside however was beautiful. Rolling hills and blue skies all the way to Monteverde.

We stopped for a bit to go potty then kept going.
After reaching the peak of the road we began descending down into Monteverde. From there we drove up to the Sky Adventures Park!

We made it!

We checked in at the front desk, and then since we were early, we went up to the cafe to grab a bite before we started our sky adventure: Sky Trek! We got geared up and then went through a short orientation before our first zipline!
Ready to go!

Adam went first!

We then boarded the Sky Tram and went up the mountain to the zipline course. It was a short ride, but it was extremely windy up there. Winds can get up to 50km per hour! (31 MPH). When we got to the top there was a small bar and Adam and I got tequila shots before our first real zipline!

Shots!

We then started on the zipline course! There were 7 ziplines total with the longest being about a 1/2 mile long!

Weeeee!!!

It was so cool to fly over the forest! I tried looking for animals but you were going so fast and were so high up you couldn't really see any. After we finally got to the bottom we decided to walk around the park a bit in hopes of seeing a monkey, toucan, sloth and/or howler monkey.

We did it!
Michael: "Canopy! Better than a bucket of shit!"

Sadly we didn't see much wildlife, just a bird and this grasshopper. We were a little hungry so we left the Sky Adventures Park and headed down to Monteverde. We stopped to eat a restaurant right next to the orchid garden. I had a burger!

Then we entered the orchid garden. We waited about 15 minutes and then went on a guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we saw tons of orchids!

After the orchid garden we headed back to our airbnb. As it was getting dark we saw a beautiful sunset over the rolling hills.

It was a nice way to end our long day. Tomorrow we are headed to the other side of Lake Arenal to go to the Volcan Arenal and rainforest!
